For decades, researchers saw indoor tanning as little more than a curiosity. But a review of the scientific evidence published last year estimated that tanning beds account for as many as 400,000 cases of skin cancer in the United States each year, including 6,000 cases of melanoma, the deadliest form.

And clinicians are concerned about the incidence rate of melanoma in women under 40, which has risen by a third since the early 1990s, according to data from the National Cancer Institute. ... Some experts say combating the problem is a matter of raising awareness about the dangers of tanning. But many women said in interviews that they were aware of health risks but cared more about how they looked now.

Tech companies like Intel or Google believe they need designers to help them make wearables that will appeal to women. Maybe they do, but not if the tech suffers as a result.

It’s good that Intel tried to research the tech needs of women, even if they don’t sound that different from the tech needs of men. But they prioritized fashion over utility.

We're guilty -- we admit it. We skip breakfast nearly every day. Sometimes we even skip lunch, getting the bulk of our daily calories from a large dinner. This is one of the worst things that you can do for your metabolism, since you starve yourself all day and slow it down. Even if you're able to maintain your weight like this, it will eventually catch up with you. So our New Year's resolution is to start the day with a healthy breakfast, followed by at least a couple of snacks during the day, until we get used to eating several small meals a day instead of one large one.

A photography exhibition celebrating the life and career of British actress Audrey Hepburn will open at London's National Portrait Gallery in July 2015.

The show will chart her rise from West End chorus girl to one of Hollywood's most photographed stars and also document her later humanitarian work.

Classic images of the Breakfast at Tiffany's actress will be displayed alongside rarely seen family photos.
